Spring into Action at Stark Library!

As the first signs of spring emerge, we’re gearing up for a season filled with exciting events and activities that celebrate renewal, creativity, and community! From March winds and April showers to blooming May flowers, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as we embrace the spirit of spring.

Cultivating Growth: The Art of the Green Thumb

Kicking off our spring festivities is the much-anticipated Community Seed Bank, launching on March 1st. This initiative, in partnership with Ohio State University Extension Stark County Master Gardeners, allows you to pick up seeds free of charge—just remember, supplies are limited! Head over to our Main Library to grab your seeds and start your gardening journey.

But that’s not all! Join us for our Eco Fair, where you can learn about Ohio’s environment, attend a presentation on companion planting from OSU Extension, and participate in crafting events that blend creativity with gardening. It’s the perfect way to get your hands dirty and cultivate your green thumb!

The Arts and Crafts of Spring

Spring is a time for enrichment and exploration, and we’ve lined up a variety of programs to inspire you. March is Women’s History Month, while May celebrates AAPI Heritage Month. Our events range from engaging author talks and presentations—such as the fascinating world of theatre masks and the history of Victorian fans—to our Local Author Fair.

Feeling creative? Try your hand at something new. Whether you’re curious about quilting or want to see if you have a knack for poetry, our Poetry Contest in April is the perfect opportunity to experiment and discover your next favorite hobby. You might be surprised by the amazing things you can create at Stark Library!

Unearthing Your Roots: The Art of Family Research

As we look forward to new beginnings, spring is also a great time to reflect on our past. Join us in May for our Local History & Genealogy Fair, designed for everyone from novice family researchers to seasoned genealogy sleuths. Discover how to organize your research, explore courthouse records for valuable information, and start journaling to preserve your family stories for future generations.

Ready to spring clean your mind and dive into knowledge? Check out our events calendar to see when and where all these exciting activities are happening across our library system. With Stark Library, the possibilities for learning and creativity are endless. We can’t wait to see you this spring!
