Introducing: Mango Languages
Mango Languages is another of those resources that our libraries pay for, so you can get it for free! And it is worth every penny. Mango teaches a new language through conversations—no vocabulary lists to memorize or charts of grammar to recite. Instead, you will listen to, speak, and type conversations that help you learn how to do practical things in another language with notes on culture and grammar that provide essential context to help you navigate a new, exciting part of the world.
The lessons are color-coded with the different parts of the sentence highlighted so you can tell what words and phrases correspond to each other. If a word is in black, it lets you know that it doesn’t exist in the other version—like helping verbs that are used in one language but not the other.
Not Just Language
If you want to travel, you need to know more than just how to order food or ask where the bathroom is. It’s important to learn about the culture and customs of the place you are visiting. Mango helps with that, too! As you learn how to say the words, you’ll also be learning about important aspects of those who speak the languages and little tricks that help you sound like a native speaker!
There are also tons of ways to deepen your knowledge. If you want more of a review of a language than learning from the beginning, you can jump around in the lessons to find where you fit. And if there’s an area you’re struggling with, Mango automatically creates daily review lessons to help you strengthen those skills you need to improve.
