Nearly 7 years ago (Summer of 2017) we, at Stark Library, took our first steps into what we now call our “Re|imagine Project.” In the years following, a new branch Library has been built in Jackson, in addition to extensive building renovations for the branches of North, East Canton, Madge Youtz, Perry Sippo, DeHoff Memorial and Lake Community - with phase 1 completed in early 2023.
Continuing our commitment to offering exceptional service and facilities to our community, our Library Board authorized “Re|imagine 2.0” in January of 2023. Re|imagine 2.0 has been divided into two phases. The first phase involves the branch renovation of Plain Community, as well as Sandy Valley’s branch relocation to its new future home in the Southgate Shopping Center, located in Canton Township.
For the second phase of Re|imagine 2.0, we will be focusing on building both a brand-new Main Library, and a much-needed new Operations Center in Downtown Canton. The Operations Center will be a non-public hub that will house our Bookmobiles, Mobile Services Team, Collection Development Department and more. Demolition of our existing storage building, located across the street from our Main Library on Cleveland Avenue, is scheduled to begin on July 22nd, with construction beginning sometime in September. The new Operations Center is expected to take 12 months to complete with Fall 2025 as an expected move in date.

Re|imagine Plain Community Branch
We are so excited to be renovating the Plain Community Branch as part of the Library’s Re|imagine project. In addition to a fresh, new look, your Library will have study rooms, a dedicated teen area, new technology, and much more!
Re|imagine Southgate Branch
We are looking forward to opening the new Southgate Branch (formerly Sandy Valley Branch) as part of the Library’s Re|imagine project in South Central Stark County. Your Library will have a beautiful children's area, a study room, new technology, and much more!
