Second Annual Touch-a-Truck Supports Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library!

News Release

May 24, 2023 (Canton, Ohio) – The Second Annual Touch-a-Truck Extravaganza puts kids up close and personal with some of the coolest vehicles in Stark County free of charge. However, beyond the big grins of kids climbing into a giant fire truck, vintage car, or other cool vehicle on Saturday, June 10 at Central Catholic High School, is a cause close to the hearts of thousands of Stark County’s youngest citizens.

“Touch-a-Truck is our major fundraiser for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library,” says Stark Library CEO/Executive Director Mary Ellen Icaza. “We send age-appropriate books in the mail monthly to more than 11,000 kids and counting from birth until the age of five, regardless of income. Simply having books in the home is proven to help develop those critical early reading skills, with parents more likely to read with their little ones.”

In addition to generous sponsors, families have a chance to purchase raffle tickets for a variety of prizes, including kids’ ride-on battery-operated cars. Food and drinks will be sold, and families can move from behind the wheel to pet and feed farm animals. Plus, many community mascots will be on hand to greet young fans.

“We’re hoping for nice weather and an even better turn-out than last year’s event, which was really well-attended. So many kids are captivated by cars. They discover and learn about their dream vehicles for free, while supporting our efforts to send books to over half the kids under the age of five throughout the county. It’s a win-win for everyone,” says Icaza.

Touch-a-Truck runs from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at Central Catholic High School on Saturday, June 10.

The sponsors of Touch-a-Truck are DayStar Auto Group, A Quality Facility Services, Davey Tree, Stark County Auto Dealers Association, Massillon Cable TV, CSE Federal Credit Union, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, FASTSIGNS, Young Trucks, The Schroer Group, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Community One Credit Union, Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health, Rotary Club of Canton, and Project REBUILD, Inc.
