Stark Library - Jackson Community Branch
Welcome
We are so glad to welcome you into your beautiful new library! It seems like so long ago when we sat with members of the community to help understand what you wanted in your library – but it is definitely worth the wait. Although we’ve had to make some accommodations due to COVID-19, there is still plenty to do in this stunning space.
The spacious building welcomes you in, yet feels as if it is a continuation of the North Park. There’s plenty of comfortable seating and even a fireplace for cooler days.
As you look around the building, you’ll notice literary quotes on the walls. Earlier this year, we reached out to the community, asking for ideas for quotes from your favorite authors or works of literature. This truly is a library by the people and for the people.

History
The Jackson Community Branch opened in July 1992, funded in part by community fundraising throughout the 1980s. After a short stint in Nobles Pond, in 2020, the Jackson Community Branch moved to its beautiful new home in North Park.
The building, designed by HBM Architects and built by Fred Olivieri Construction, contains many safe, efficient, and sustainable features. The raised access flooring allows for flexibility in power and data distribution and energy efficiency for the HVAC system. A combination of natural lighting, through high-performance, energy-efficient windows, and a smart LED lighting system, means that we are consuming less energy to light the building.
Many of the materials used in the building process are recycled and locally sourced. In addition, water-efficient plumbing fixtures and drought-tolerant plants reduce water usage.
