What is Re|imagine?

Re|imagine is our plan to live out our mission and vision in Stark County, creating inviting spaces that inspire and empower all people to pursue creativity and lifelong learning. It is a multi-year plan to renovate our buildings, upgrading our technology, and creating more flexible spaces for a wide range of use.

Why is Re|imagine Important to Our Community?

Our community showed their belief and good faith in us by passing a new levy in 2019. As a trusted guide in the community, we are committed to being good stewards of the dollars entrusted to us by our taxpayers. Re|imagine is our commitment to invest in our community by properly caring for our buildings and facilities in order to serve our patrons with excellence in the 21st Century.

The objectives of this project are:

Our Mission

To spark curiosity and foster knowledge by connecting everyone to resources, services, and opportunities.

  • To serve each person who walks through our doors with excellence
  • To create more dynamic, flexible spaces that can adapt to meet the needs in the community
  • To implement technology improvements and library industry best practices to better serve patrons
  • To offer professionally curated materials that meet the needs and interests of patrons living in each community we serve

Branch Enhancements

Each of our locations was evaluated to determine what renovations needed to be made to best serve the patrons in their communities. Floorplans are being customized to fit the individual needs of the community.

This is our first major renovation project in more than a decade.

These are some of the upgrades and enhancements that locations may receive:

Access:

  • Enhanced A/V technology
  • Lockers for 24/7 hold pickup
  • Electrical outlets and powered furniture for device charging
  • Children’s interactive tables and furniture
  • Self-check stations
  • Interactive, touch screen catalogs in public areas

Comfortable and flexible spaces:

  • New carpeting, paint, and flooring
  • New, enclosed study rooms and collaboration areas
  • New, varied furniture types with increased durability, accessibility and flexibility
  • Updated bathroom facilities

Safety and security:

  • Lower shelving to allow for better sightlines
  • Energy efficient lighting inside and out
  • Improved ADA compliance throughout the system
  • New security cameras at every location
  • Sound quality improvements to reduce noise

Tentative Timeline

Construction schedules range from 10-16 weeks and are planned using a phased approach, based on the critical needs of each community. This is the tentative timeline and is subject to change.
