Circulating E-Reader Procedures

  • eReaders are for use by current library cardholders who are in good standing and are 16 years of age or older. 
  • A photo ID and library card must be provided to checkout an e-reader. 
  • eReaders circulate for 2 weeks and can be renewed twice, as long as there are no holds. 
  • Overdue fees will be charged for eReaders not returned by their due date in the amount of $.50 per day. 
  • A library cardholder may borrow only one eReader at a time.
  • eReaders must be checked out at an SCDL location 
  • eReaders must be returned to the SCDL location where checked out and where borrowing agreement is on file.
  • eReaders must be returned to a library staff member at a checkout desk – never left in a drop box or unattended return area. 
  • eReaders are non-floating. 
  • If eReader is lost, stolen, or damaged patron will be held responsible for all applicable replacement costs and processing fees.
  • Borrower may not make changes of any kind to the device “settings.”
  • Borrower may not download books to the device or delete books from the device.
  • Borrower will read and sign an “eReader Borrowing Agreement” at the time they checkout an eReader. 
  • The library reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who abuses equipment or is repeatedly late in returning eReaders. 
  • If technical problems are encountered, the electronic device should be returned immediately and problem stated to library staff.
