Ride into a Healthier Summer with BikeSmart
April 30, 2019 (Canton, Ohio) –Stark County’s award-winning bike share network, BikeSmart is thrilling Stark County with a 5th season.
Biking is part of a happy, healthy life style with benefits including stronger bones, lower stress and anxiety issues and better cardiovascular fitness. Over 2,500 users in Stark County are making our community healthier. According to Zagster, we’ve burned an astounding 5,000,000 calories since its inception.
“The bikes aren’t just for recreation—those with transportation issues are using it to get to appointments, connect with community resources, and even commute to work. It’s not only healthy and convenient—it’s eco-friendly, too! Each ride helps reduce our carbon footprint,” said Derek Gordon, head of the BikeSmart committee. “When the program launched, we knew it was unique in the world of bike sharing networks, but we are thrilled with its ongoing impact on Stark County.”
Through this partnership, the Library, Stark Parks, SARTA and Canton Parks and Rec connect users with almost every corner of Stark County, over 120 miles of beautiful trails, and takes riders even further with our latest partner—SARTA. With 34 fixed routes throughout Stark County and two easy-to-use bike racks on each bus, this partnership is perfect for riders’ first and last mile.
