Pro Football Hall of Famer Will Shields to Host Special Story Time at Library

July 31, 2018 (Canton, Ohio) – Join Will Shields, Pro Football Hall of Famer and guard for the Kansas City Chiefs, for a special story time at Stark Library on Friday, August 3.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. in the Main Library Atrium in downtown Canton. This family event is free to attend and will also include football themed activities and a question and answer session with the football great.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame and Stark Library offer the Hall of Fame Story Time annually during the Enshrinement Festival including Enshrinement Week Powered by Johnson Controls. The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s important mission is to “Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values and Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE!” Aligning with that mission is The Hall of Fame’s collaboration with the Library is one of many efforts to encourage children and families to Start Smart by developing early literacy skills. Start Smart, Stay Smart and Share Smart are the Library’s three areas of focus as it reimagines itself as The Smart Store®.

Shields played guard for the Chiefs for 14 seasons, never missing a game. He earned 12 straight Pro Bowl berths and was named first-team All-Pro in 1999, 2002, and 2003 and picked as a second-team All-Pro choice four other times. Shields, who played a franchise record 224, was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 2000s. He was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015.
