New From the Library: “Borrowing” Museum Passes The SmartStore’s® Latest Innovative, Smart and Free Offering
June 15, 2017 (Canton, Ohio) – Stark County has come to expect the unexpected from Stark County District Library as it lives up to its vision of being The SmartStore where everything is free®. Now the library system that lets you borrow bikes, car sensor code readers and WiFi hotspots is introducing its latest new item to borrow: museum passes.
Library cardholders can “check out” – for free, of course – a family pass to explore the Canton Museum of Art, one of Ohio’s premier museums for visual arts experience and education. The two-week family pass to the museum entitles guests to unlimited free admission to all exhibits, free opening night parties, special events, and discounts on Artisan Boutique purchases, museum classes and ticketed special events. Passes can be checked out online and in all ten branches of the Library’s branches.
Visitors can enjoy an exciting summer line-up of exhibits at the CMA including AVATARS: Relics from the Future; In Praise of Women: Works from the Permanent Collection; The Bill and Liz Hunt Collection; and Mastery: Teachers from the CMA School of Art. Later in the season, football fans and history buffs will enjoy Scrimmage: Football in American Art from the Civil War to the Present and Elijah Pierce: The American Journey. Art classes are available for all ages at a discounted rate when using a pass from the library.
“We’re excited to partner with the Canton Museum of Art to give families in Stark County the opportunity to explore the arts,” said Marianna DiGiacomo, Community Services Director. “It’s a great way to encourage family time and an appreciation for the arts. We hope to add more museums in the future.”
Library cardholders can visit their local branch to check out a museum pass or visit StarkLibrary.org/Museum to checkout and print a pass online. Passes, like most library materials, can be borrowed for two weeks. To learn more about the museum passes visit StarkLibrary.org/Museum or call 330-452-0665.
