Author and Sports Columnist Terry Pluto to Speak at Lake Community Branch

May 22, 2019 (Canton, Ohio) – Stark Library invites you to join Terry Pluto, author and sports columnist, at Lake Community Branch on June 4 from 6-7 pm to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of Cleveland sports, and his latest book The Browns Blues.

“There’s no better speaker on the subject,” said Marianna DiGiacomo, Community Services Director for the Library. “Terry gives fans an insightful and honest look behind the scenes of Cleveland sports. We are excited to welcome him back to discuss his newest book.”

A sports columnist for The Plain Dealer, Pluto has twice been honored by the Associated Press Sports Editors as the nation’s top sports columnist for medium-sized newspapers. He is a nine-time winner of the Ohio Sports Writer of the Year award and has received more than 50 state and local writing awards. In 2005 he was inducted into the Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame. He also makes weekly appearances on WKSU.

He is the author of 31 books, including The Curse of Rocky Colavito (selected by the New York Times as one of the five notable sports books of 1989), and Loose Balls, which was ranked number 13 on Sports Illustrated’s list of the top 100 sports books of all time. He was called “Perhaps the best American writer of sports books,” by the Chicago Tribune in 1997.

This free event is sponsored by the Lake Community Friends of the Library and will feature a discussion followed by a question and answer session and book signing. Friends of the Library volunteers will have additional copies of the book available for purchase the night of the event. Lake Community branch is located at 565 Market Avenue SW, Uniontown. Reserve your FREE seats by calling 330.452.0665 or by visiting StarkLibrary.org.
