#1 New York Times Bestselling Outlander Author Diana Gabaldon Skype Discussion at Lake Community Branch
January 3, 2017 (Canton, Ohio) – Lake Community Branch of Stark County District Library invites patrons to participate in an exciting and unique discussion with #1 New York Times bestselling Outlander author Diana Gabaldon on Tuesday, January 17 from 6:30- 7:30 p.m.
This virtual author event will connect patrons with Gabaldon via Skype where she will discuss her historical sci-fi adventure romance novels, the hit show Outlander, time travel, Scotland and more. This unique and free event will include an audience question and answer session.
The wildly popular Outlander series focuses on a 20th century Army nurse, who accidentally time travels to 18th-century Scotland and finds adventure. The series includes Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, An Echo in the Bone, and Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. The series has won the Romance Writers of America’s RITA Award and the Quill Award for Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror. It has also been adapted into an award winning BBC series starring Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan.
“Gabaldon is such an exceptional storyteller; she’s seamlessly stitched a variety of genres together to create the Outlander series—and it works so well! We’re excited to welcome her to the library,” said Brett Neff, Lake Community Branch Manager. “Unique and interesting programming options like this Skype event are how we try to be “The Smart Store” for our patrons.”
Diana Gabaldon holds three degrees: a BS in Zoology, MS in Marine Biology, and PhD in behavioral ecology. She has written software reviews, technical articles, popular science articles and comic books for the Walt Disney Company. She was a professor for 12 years before leaving to write full time.
