Backlist Booklist

Does this sound familiar? Your favorite author has a new book out, your Fresh Picks email from Stark Library just arrived, you discovered exciting new titles while checking Bookstagram and now you have a long list of new books you want to read. You immediately visit the Library website but all the copies are checked out so you place the titles on hold. Your ‘To Be Read’ list is growing exponentially but you have nothing new to read right now! (Never good) That’s when this post will be quite useful.

What’s a backlist? It’s the publishers’ lists of older books still in print, the “not newly published” books. It’s a great way to find good (or even great) books you may have missed. It’s always fun to read shiny and new books but with so many books published, it’s easy to miss the hidden gems. Many of the best-selling authors have extensive backlists and those titles might be easier to obtain.

Let’s start with our most recent Fresh Picks. I chose three titles that currently have holds lists and offer alternatives from each author’s backlist
